a mysterious walk in Ellezelles

Few weeks ago we made a short trip to a wallonian town with a beautiful name - Ellezelles. I love the name. I can't remember it or pronounce it, but i love it. This place is mainly known as a birth place of Hercule Poirot. And in the 1910 the local witch Quintine was hanged and burned here. We thought, that's it. But than we got surprised by a mysterious path full of strange installations. Following the arrows on the ground, we discovered the narrow streets of Ellezelles and they led us thru the old town to meet Quintine. In her liquid form;)

zombie kids and teddy bear butchers

Wandering around the Gentse Feesten was not only about Puppetbuskers festival and puppets. There has been so many things going on, that it was practically impossible to see all of it. One interesting place to go, was so called Batabang. Well, I still don't really know what was it about, but I guess there were some concerts going on, people could have some food, and drinks and some specific fun. For example they could take a picture of their child in a coffin. With a cross, and flowers and all what's neccesary:) Very scary. I saw many of the pictures on their page and it is somehow wrong, and somehow very original. And those kids obviously had fun.

I got very worried when I saw one little boy, there at Batabang. He just looked sick. His parents looked alright, but he was blueish in his face, red eyes... For a moment I was so   sorry for little belgian kids, who don't get enough sun...

Than I found the magic place where children were turning into zombies! No spidermen, hello kitty's, fairy's... But real zombie face painting! I loved it! The kids too. And imagine those pics of zombie kids in a coffin! :)

Later on we managed to visit Mira Miro plein. Mira Miro is a famous street theater festival,  happening also every year during GF. It's really a good one. Just by an accident we passed by an interesting butchery. Boucherie Bacul. And I couldn't believe to what I see!! Delicatessen from all kinds of ... toys:)
Barbie paté, sushi from Pikachu, or Plutos paws... All made with love and a smile. The Baculs sisters explained and demonstrated how to precisely kill a plush toy, and prepare certain parts... It was a continuos performance and anytime you join, you are gonna have fun. You might even get to taste a couple of salted paws prepared by the brother Bacul. In his bloody apron.
I don't know, what did the children dream about later in the night. I slept good. The little teddie's were anyway still smiling...;)

you see, still smiling ;)
